Dr. Charis Pouangare is responsible for Consumer and SME Banking, one of the largest divisions of the Bank of Cyprus.
In his role, Charis leads Consumer Banking, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Banking, Alternative Delivery Channels and the Cards department. Before being appointed in this role in 2009, Charis held a number of strategically important positions in the Bank of Cyprus Group, serving as the Limassol Regional Manager, Regional Manager Corporate Banking, Credit Risk Manager, Corporate Business Development Manager, Manager Corporate Banking and as a Credit Officer.
Prior to joining the Bank of Cyprus Group, Charis spent two years in Boston and Tokyo as a Civil Engineer Consultant.
Charis holds a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) and a Master of Science (MSc) in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States as well as a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University in Greece.
He is the Chairman of the Board of IDEA and a Member of the Board of Directors of Eurolife Ltd, the Board of Directors of General Insurance Company Ltd and the Board of Directors of BOC Oncology Centre
